What is RDS? You may have seen the RDS logo on your car radio, but it doesn't explain that RDS is the system that brings information such as the station's call letters and what song is currently playing, to the radio's display. Until recently, only commercial stations have had the ability to send RDS, but now, thanks to organizations such as Pira, RDS is available for any low-power radio station. For more technical information about RDS, see the Wikipedia article.
Bluebonnet Lights now sends the name of the song we're currently playing over RDS, so you can get the answer to your question: "Who did that song?" directly from your radio. This is possible in part due to a feature of version S2 of the Light-O-Rama software that sends the current song information to a file, where it is picked up by the Pira software.
